LS14 – Int. Symposium on the Science and Technology of Lighting
“LS CONFERENCES: THE PERFECT STAGE TO PRESENT AND DISCUSS STATE-OF-THE-ART LIGHTING TECHNOLOGIES”
The 14th International Symposium on the Science and Technology of Lighting (LS14) will take place from 22 to 27 June, 2014, in Como, Italy. The LS14 symposium program is conceived to address important, topical themes in light source science and technology, by means of Invited papers and Landmark papers selected from several hundreds of papers contributed by delegates as being significant in their field.
LS14: Opportunity for Lighting Designers and Engineers
In the past years the LS organization decided to modify the series name (previously called International Symposium on the Science and Technology of Light Sources) to better reflect the addition of human factors and lighting applications into the conference program. During the nearly 40-year old history, LS conferences have been the perfect stage to present and discuss state-of-the-art and smart lighting technologies. This trend is nowadays manifested with a large representation of SSL and LEDs technologies. The conference is an important opportunity for scientists, design engineers and lighting designers to discuss all aspects of fundamental and applied research on thermal, discharge, and plasma technologies, as well as on SSL, and every aspect of lighting science in a stimulating and informal atmosphere.
Conferences: Lighting Technology, Applications and Science
The conference program will start on Sunday afternoon: after registration of the delegates two introductory keynote lectures will be given. The conference includes keynote lectures of 50+10 minutes each, invited lectures of 25+5 minutes, and landmark lectures, selected from contributed papers, of 10+5 minutes.
All lectures will be in English. The LS14 Organizing Committee is particularly interested in receiving contributed papers that fall within the following research categories:
- lighting technologies: fundamental aspects and innovative concepts on lighting systems (sources and drivers)
- lighting design
- lighting applications
- lighting science: photometry, colorimetry, light perception and biological effects.
Posters will be displayed throughout the entire week of the conference. On each full program day there will be poster sessions in the morning and afternoon. During the poster sessions, refreshments will be provided. In order to facilitate the people interaction and networking, posters’ authors are expected to present their posters on the scheduled day, being free to visit the sessions on the other days.
Buffet lunches with fresh appetizers and specialties of Italian cuisine will be served for all the registered delegates from Monday till Thursday.
Social Events
A Welcome Reception will be held on Sunday at the Grand Hotel Como hosting the Convention Center. On Monday evening, a get-together party with refreshments will be organized. On Wednesday as main social event, a conference banquet will be held after a wonderful cruise on the beautiful Lake Como. All these events are included in the conference fee. Information on additional social events is forthcoming and will be available as part of the registration process.
The 14th International Symposium on the Science and Technology of Lighting will be held in Italy on Lake Como, one of the most beautiful areas in the North of Italy, from the 22nd to the 27th of June, 2014. Registration for the event is open now.
