rlon SYNTAX: Inventive and Versatile Tube Bulbs Freely in Space

Studio RLON in Berlin is a metaphysical design studio manifesting ideas by the means of object, light and movement. The talented and young studio is primarily focusing on transferring its eccentric knowledge into novel product design and artistic light installations. Their latest innovation – the SYNTAX system – is an inventive socket system for s14 tube bulbs.

Syntax: Arrange the Light Your Way!

Working with the s14 tube bulbs system empowers designers and architects to arrange this powerful light source in ways as never seen before. In fact, the stylish tube light source has been around for a while but only recently sees new traction due to the arrival of minimalistic and energy-saving LED technology.

The elongated cylindrical shape of this luminaire constitutes a beautiful light body that sets it apart from regular bulbs. By emitting light along a line, tube bulbs also offer a very interesting and versatile geometry for light designers and architects.

Until recently the usage of s14 bulbs was limited to wall mounting, as only sockets for this application have been available on the market. By the introduction of SYNTAX, rlon presents a minimal yet powerful socket system that allows installing tube bulbs freely in space and in before unseen arrangements.

A New Language of Light

Being it suspended on a cable, fixed to a threaded pipe or attached to a standard lamp component, with SYNTAX one can speak a new language of light with this luminaire system.

For that reason, rlon has been striving to came up with a socket system that would be able to speak this new language of light. As a result ‘SYNTAX’ was born, a tool that lets designers do ‘very cool things with tube bulbs’. With SYNTAX, tube bulbs can be arranged freely in space, creating the appearance of floating light rays.

Meanwhile, the studio realized some stunning first projects with the SYNTAX system and now starts to show light enthusiasts, designers and architects a glimpse of the system capabilities.

SYNTAX Socket – Availability

The SYNTAX socket comes in two versions for both connector types of tube bulbs: s14s and s14d. Tube bulbs are available in 30, 50 and 100cm length, different light temperatures and with frosted or transparent tubes.
