darc awards 2016: Celebrating the Best in Architectural Lighting Design
The darc awards 2016 event is a unique concept utilising mondo*arc‘s reputation as being one of the most widely read lighting design publications in the world. With a database of over 1,000 international lighting design practices and, in collaboration with creative consultants light collective, they have created a unique opportunity to get every practice involved in the awards process.
darc awards 2016: Peer-to-Peer voting for Architectural Winners
MONDO*ARC have formalised a list of categories that is a reality check to other award ceremonies! They’re opening it up so that anyone can enter from the Lighting Profession (lighting designer, lighting architect, interior designer or OEM manufacturer), but here’s the exciting bit: once the shortlist has been chosen by an international jury of independent architectural lighting designers, each of the 1,000+ lighting design practices and their designers will be invited to vote on their favourite projects via a specially developed darc awards website.
Resource for Lighting Design Inspiration
All the projects and the companies who have submitted them will be present on the website so that, over time, the darc awards website becomes a comprehensive online lighting design resource that can be used by designers and clients alike for lighting inspiration.
Along with darc awards 2016 architectural, there is also a parallel event for decorative lighting installations in May 2017: darc awards 2017 for decorative designer lighting. It follows the same philosphy resulting in a comprehensive online database of products.
Award Categories: Interior – Exterior and Technology
The awards are split into five categories. Project categories each have Low and High budgets. The product (Kit) category is split into Interior, Exterior and Technology products. There will be a special ‘darc award’ during the awards ceremony for the project that gained the most votes.
darc night will take place at MC Motors, an Aladdins Cave of props and surprising spaces, in Dalston, London on September 15th, 2015. It will be an atmospheric party in a unique venue in London. Imagine light art, street food, lighting installations… this breaks all the awards rules and will be unlike any other awards ceremony to date.
